PIREP - Stark Avionics

As much person, I appreciate pireps from those of you with exposure to shops you utilize (whether positive or negative) and want to give my experience for that thought on others also. After a so-so experience during a recent avionics install, I found myself looking for the best alternate avenue for that installing of a whole new transponder for ADS-B compliance. I called two local shops first. The price of one was so high that we actually busted out laughing on the phone like I were at a comedy bar. He was apparently much less amused because i. I was telling the story of my local quote into a friend with the airport anf the husband recommended which i call John Stark at Stark Avionics for the quote. In doing my research before calling John, I browsed Mooneyspace and BT for pireps around the shop. In the process, I ran across a totally terrible pirep on Stark Avionics. (Search in BT if you would like you just read it). This pirep caused me serious concern about whether or not to call Stark for any quote.

I posted an overall query for suggestions about an avionics shop and received another recommendation for Stark from another MSer (Oldguy). He and i also spoke in reference to his knowledge of Stark i chose to give John a trip in line with the two recommendations I received from trusted sources. I was open with John regarding my concerns regarding the negative pirep on MS cheap I had been gun shy based on the previous experience. As they always say, there's two sides to every single story and John took his time to explain his side if you ask me as I am certain he'll be willing to employ other people who would like to phone him in that way. Our conversation shifted in the pirep to pricing. John and I discussed different equipment options, what would best suit my needs/wants as well as the flat rate installed price for each and every option. We ultimately thought we would install the Stratus ESGi for ADS-B in/out. John quoted me a soft price, but was at the start that the number could possibly be slightly higher if the tray was riveted in (as numerous Mooneys are). I went to manchester airport that night, took pictures and confirmed that my trays were placed on screws and forwarded those pictures to John. John responded in a really timely manner and confirmed the predetermined fee price for your equipment and install in some recoverable format so we scheduled the install date and pickup date. The plane would have been to be delivered the Sunday after Thanksgiving. John said he would have all the feaures ready by Tuesday, however i opted to schedule the pickup for Wednesday in the event that there was some snags as you go along.
